The latest results from the Taking Part survey for the period October 2015 to September 2016 have been published.
The key findings from the report are:
- Engagement with the arts was 77% similar to the proportion when the survey was first run in 2005/06 (76.3%);
- 74.1% of adults had visited a heritage site in the 12 months prior to interview, and 53.6 % had visited a museum or gallery, significantly higher proportions than in 2005/06;
- Engagement with libraries and the archives was significantly lower than in 2005/06, at 33.8% and 3.1% respectively (compared with 48.2% and 5.9 % in 2005/06); and
- Cultural engagement was higher for those in the upper socio-economic group than the lower group across all DCMS sectors covered in the report.
