The Alliance has submitted evidence to the Procedure Committee of the House of Commons’ inquiry into the delegated powers likely to be claimed by the Government in its proposed Great Repeal Bill.
We stated that existing levels of protection of the historic environment must be maintained by the Great Repeal Bill. However, the Alliance is identifying post ‘Brexit’ opportunities to amend existing legislation to better reflect UK circumstances.
The Hansard Society has published its report ‘Westminster Lens: Parliament and Delegated Legislation in the 2015-16 Session‘. The report examines the delegated legislation process in the 2015-16 session – including new data on controversial Henry VIII powers – and challenges a number of assertions made about the process by Ministers and Members of both Houses.
