Using your experience working in the historic environment you will join a team dedicated to providing high quality training for the heritage sector, you will have the opportunity to work with experts and broaden your knowledge of issues facing the historic environment.

The Capacity Building Team at Historic England provides training courses which aim to raise standards of professional practice and build external capacity in the professions engaged in the understanding, protection and management of the historic environment. For this 12 month contract you will work from our Swindon office (although other locations may be considered) and travel to events across England.

You will be responsible for designing practical training courses, administration and managing the delegate experience. You will have approximately 10 courses during the year to design and deliver by engaging expert speakers, providing practical training exercises and managing event administration such as promotion, course booking and evaluation. This job requires significant travel and overnight stays across England. Some manual handling of course materials may also be required.

You will be a confident and decisive person able to work under your own direction. You will understand the role of Historic England and be enthusiastic about the historic environment, having knowledge of the issues it faces. You will have strong people skills, be able to influence, encourage and support others; sharing your knowledge and experience with the team. You will have experience in designing and delivering training courses, setting clear learning outcomes and measuring the success of training. You will have effective organisation and project management skills. As we are expanding our online training offer some knowledge of online training development would be desirable.
