The British Council has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Grants Manager to play an integral role in delivering the work of the Cultural Protection Fund (CPF). Situated within the British Council’s Arts Department, the Cultural Protection Fund is a £30 million initiative with the aim of creating sustainable opportunities for economic and social development through building capacity to foster, safeguard and promote cultural heritage affected by conflict overseas. Launched in June of 2016, the Fund is a partnership with the UK government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following essential knowledge & experience:
• Demonstrable experience within the cultural heritage sector and knowledge of current practice.
• Experience of grant-making and/or project management.
• Experience of writing analytical reports and presenting information verbally in a formal setting.
Some of the main opportunities/challenges include (link to job advert and role profile):
• Working closely with potential applicants on the development of applications to the Fund.
• Producing effective and well-informed assessment reports incorporating appropriate specialist advice and presenting recommendations to the CPF Approvals Panel.
• Monitoring and managing the risks associated with a dynamic portfolio of cultural protection projects taking place in conflict-affected countries.
• Carrying out careful monitoring of financial spend and project progress.
