Scottish planning reform – mandatory training for planning committees?

The Scottish Government has published an analysis of responses ​to the consultation on Place, People and Planning, the review of the Scottish planning system, accompanied by a position statement on proposals it plans on taking forward. The Scottish Government is consulting on elements to be taken forward in it’s Planning Bill which aims to strengthen planning’s contribution to inclusive growth and empowering communities. Measures the Scottish Government is exploring include the scope for mandatory training for elected members who are serving on a planning committee or Local Review Body, potentially supported with testing.
