  • There are 700,000 charity trustees (Two-thirds are male);
  • Trustees average age is 55-65 but are likely to be older (65-74) in smaller charities;
  • 92% of Trustees are white;
  • On average trustees devote 4.88 hours per week to their roles;
  • 93% of trustees regard their role as important or very important to them; and
  • 80% of Trustees have no additional staff or volunteers.

The report said: “Charity trustees report that they lack relevant legal, digital, fundraising, marketing and campaigning skills at board level.”
