Tourism Action Plan – One Year On

DCMS has published an update setting out progress it has made over the last 12 months. Since the Tourism Action Plan was published, the industry has continued to perform excellently. From January to July 2017, there were 23.1 million visits to the UK by overseas residents, an increase of 8% compared to January to July 2016. Spending over the same period increased by 9%, from £12.2 billon to £13.3 billion.

The report notes the three-year £40 million Discover England fund, which among other things, has funded heritage cities to reach a new generation of tourists using virtual reality.
