This new second edition also replaces the former Historic England advice on views (which was contained in Seeing the History in the View, 2011). The revision aims to clarify the relationship between setting and views, to make clear that the heritage interest in views is a matter of the contribution of views to the significance of heritage assets, and in allowing that significance to be appreciated.
