The Heritage Alliance is proud to welcome the University of Oxford as a new member of the Heritage Alliance. The University of Oxford is a world-class centre of excellence dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and a better understanding of the world through research and education with a student population of over 23,000, just under half of whom are postgraduates. As the largest employer in Oxfordshire, it employs over 13,000 people directly, as well as contributing around £5.8 billion and 50,000 full time jobs to the UK economy.

The University is delighted to join The Heritage Alliance. It sees growing opportunities for mutually beneficial knowledge exchange with heritage institutions, practitioners and communities. It recognises the growing interconnections with policy and practice, both in the UK and internationally, and that encouraging research co-production and collaboration are important elements of its strategy and planning.

Its existing partnerships include many Alliance members such as the National Trust, Historic Houses Association, Historic England, English Heritage and Historic Royal Palaces. These partnerships involve students and researchers across the humanities, the social and environmental sciences, and the Said Business School, and reflect the University’s breadth and depth of expertise. The University’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums also contain globally significant collections that promote research, learning and enjoyment, and host Oxford Cultural Leaders, an innovative international museum leadership programme.
