The second Heritage 2020 ‘foresight’ workshop took place on 8 March exploring the theme ‘What’s over the digital horizon for heritage?’

Members of the Heritage 2020 working groups, the Historic Environment Forum and colleagues from the wider cultural and technology sectors came together to hear how digital technology is being used to engage new audiences, transform operations and build new skills.

Michael Ellis MP, Minister for the Arts, Heritage and Tourism gave an opening address that expressed the importance of digital to the heritage sector and provided the strategic context for the day and we welcome Sarah Toplis from The Space, Chris Michaels from the National Gallery and Tonya Nelson from UCL to share their experience of ‘the art of the possible’. Participants then discussed what can be adapted or re-used by the heritage sector and how the sector can work with others to make the most of the opportunities that technology present.

A summary of the day will be available on the Heritage 2020 website. To find out more about Heritage 2020, visit www.heritage2020.net
