C20 Conservation Areas report published

The C20 Society has just published a report on C20 Conservation Areas. Sadly, much valuable and interesting post-war development is being demolished or heavily altered, with little or no regard to its heritage significance. The Society has become increasingly aware of the potential benefits conservation areas offer to groups of C20th buildings. It is a particularly appropriate way of maintaining the special character of larger-scale C20th developments, such as universities, city centre schemes or housing.

The research was funded by Historic England to mark the 50th anniversary year of the legislation introducing conservation areas in 1967. Read more
