Brooklands Museum: Director of Collections

Editor News

Brooklands Museum is seeking a new Director of Collections, Interpretation and Heritage who is passionate about bringing history alive in ways that excite people of all ages and backgrounds and who wants to play a key leadership role in this growing independent museum.

Brooklands Museum is on the site of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit and home of aviation. Brooklands’ heritage includes themes of inventiveness, adventure and engineering innovation.

It is an exciting time to join the museum. The site will be reinterpreted and developed over the coming years, building on the extremely successful new £8m development of the Brooklands Aircraft Factory completed last year.

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of motor sport and / or aviation collections, with a background in engineering and experience of working collections, as using collections is a key principle of the museum. Experience of working with a large team of volunteers would be helpful. Crucially, the post holder will be able to lead the development and implementation of a site-wide interpretation plan that will bring Brooklands to life for a wide-range of types of visitors.
