Cambridge Heritage Research Centre joins the Alliance

The Alliance is delighted to welcome the Cambridge Heritage Research Centre (CHRC) as a member. The establishment of the CHRC in April 2018, marks an exciting new chapter in the development of heritage research at the University of Cambridge. As one of the first universities in the world to offer a graduate degree in the field of heritage studies, Cambridge has played a central role in the development of the field within academia.

The CHRC brings together Departments and Faculties from a variety of disciplines, including Archaeology, Classics, Criminology, Land Economy, Education, and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. CHRC members conduct research into themes which look at heritage in relation to conflict and post-conflict situations; heritage ecologies; identity and migration; tangible and intangible distinctions; as well as the role of heritage in education and the development of new methodologies for heritage research.

The Centre organises an annual programme of seminars, lectures and workshops for academics and professionals working in the broad field of heritage studies. The Centre acts as focal point for the sharing and advancement of heritage research within and beyond academia, establishing collaborations with independent heritage organisations and specialist bodies, an element of its remit which will be greatly strengthened by membership of the Heritage Alliance.
