Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) Conduct Consultation

Editor News

DEFRA is currently seeking views on how fairly and effectively IFCAs have operated in the past four years. The consultation asks for views on five success criteria:

1:  IFCAs are recognised and heard, balancing the economic needs of the fishery whilst working in partnership and engaging with stakeholders
2:  IFCAs implement a fair, effective and proportionate enforcement regime
3:  IFCAs use evidence based and appropriate measures to manage the sustainable exploitation of sea fisheries resources and deliver marine environmental protection within their district
4:  IFCAs have appropriate governance in place and staff are trained and professional
5:  IFCAs make the best use of evidence to deliver their objectives

The consultation closes on September 4th 2018. More information is available here.
