Heritage and the High Street: a review of activity

Editor News

The woes of the High Street have been very much in the news recently with many big retail names struggling to maintain physical stores on high streets and in town centres.

The Heritage 2020 Constructive Conservation and Sustainable Management working group has been looking at the role that Heritage can play as part of a response to social and economic changes and in particular, where there are opportunities to promote a heritage led response to addressing the changing face of the high street.

Following on from its workshop ‘Heritage and the High Street: which way now?’ (December 2017), the group has now published a review of some of the recent activity relating to Heritage and High Streets.
The mapping gathers together activity under four headings of research & data, policy, toolkits and projects. The collation is available as a document here.
