The role of the Head of the Assessment and Evaluation Unit (GLAM) is a senior administrative position within the Garden, Libraries and Museums (GLAM) division. The role-holder will provide direct support to the Museums and Gardens within GLAM and for those undertaking public engagement activities at the Bodleian Libraries.

This is a permanent grade 9 role, and the post holder will lead a new team responsible for assessing, measuring, evaluating, reporting and communicating the effectiveness and impact of GLAM events, activities and services.

The role is responsible for developing a culture of assessment and evaluation within the Museums and Gardens of GLAM, and supporting evidence-based decision-making across GLAM. Supported by a Data Analyst the postholder will also be expected to deliver significant outputs for the unit. Through the creation and establishment of this new Assessment and Evaluation Unit, the role-holder brings together statutory and funder reporting; audience evaluation; business intelligence for decision-making; evaluation of public engagement with research within cultural institutions; and the demonstration of the value of the Museums and Gardens collections to the University.

The Head combines extensive professional knowledge and broad and deep experience in applying quantitative and qualitative research methods; aptitude for developing and applying new methodologies through independent research; exceptional communication skills; and skills in diplomacy, administration, and research to create an effective assessment and evaluation unit for GLAM.
