The Agriculture Bill: Ensuring it works for both the historic and natural environments

The Heritage Alliance’s rural heritage advocacy group has published a paper ‘The Agriculture Bill: Ensuring it works for both the historic and natural environments’ in advance of the second reading of the Agriculture Bill on 10 October 2018. This was also circulated to parliamentarians.

The 25 Year Environment Plan and the Agriculture Bill could be a new start for rural heritage.  For the first time, they approach the natural and historic environments on an equal footing: the Bill provides for cultural heritage to be funded on the same basis as all other environmental public goods.
