Editor News

Closing date: 1 December.

SPAB are now accepting applications for their 2019 scholarships.

Architects, building surveyors and structural engineers who have completed their formal training and have some experience working in their field are eligible for SPAB’s Lethaby Scholarship. Since 1930, this has offered a training opportunity where young professionals in these fields can learn on site from architects and specialist craftspeople working in building conservation. Three or four scholars are accepted each year, dependent on funding, each of whom will receive a bursary in the region of £8600 to cover basic travel and living costs over the nine months. Supplementary finance is usually required.

SPAB also runs an annual scheme: SPAB’s William Morris Craft Fellowship, which is designed to broaden the skills and experience of craftspeople from any trade who work in the repair of historic buildings. Fellows will receive a bursary in the region of £6000 to cover basic travel and living costs. Supplementary finance is usually required.
