ORNC: Recruitment of Trustee to the Board

Editor News

The Greenwich Foundation wishes to appoint a new trustee to join the Board. This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining the charity.  The Painted Hall reopening in the Spring of 2019 with a greatly enhanced interpretation means our expectations are high; we want to attract more than 0.5m visitors each year to the Painted Hall alone.

Our 10-year plan will transform Sir Christopher Wren’s riverside masterpiece into one of London’s leading cultural destinations.  With a 17-acre riverside estate, and already enjoying 1.4m visits a year to our vibrant arts, cultural and entertainment programme – we have a wonderful foundation on which to build.

Economic self-reliance is one of our key goals and to that end we are reviewing the range of creative and commercial opportunities we can offer across the estate.  Given our invigorated visitor offer launching in 2019, and our commitment to first class visitor and community experiences, we are particularly keen to attract a talented marketing professional, with proven experience in the visitor destination market, to join our Board. Candidates should be experienced across the spectrum of marketing skills including the use of digital.  Experience with heritage assets, in visitor attraction settings or in working with cultural institutions would be a distinct advantage. The role is for a Non-Executive Board member, who will contribute to strategy, governance and performance oversight as well as providing mentoring support at times to the Executive team. There are usually 5 board meetings per annum plus a limited number of committee meetings. The role is unpaid but expenses will be reimbursed.

We are keen to extend the diversity of the board, and would particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups.

If you’re interested in this role and would like to find out more you can call Angela McConville, our Chief Executive for an informal discussion on 020 8269 4750.

Closing date: 12pm, 14th January 2019
