Historic Pools joins the Heritage Alliance

Editor News

The Heritage Alliance is delighted to welcome Historic Pools of Britain as a new member. Historic Pools of Britain is a national organisation giving representation to indoor and outdoor pools, recognising the vital role they play within their communities, and their significant contribution to the nation’s heritage.

Across the UK there is considerable interest in historic pools and a real resurgence in lidos has been witnessed.  However, many historic pools have also been lost in recent years, so one of the prime roles of the organisation is to give a voice to those that remain today, some of which are in operation and some of which are closed but have active community campaigns behind them.  Together they form a unique collection; many are listed for their architectural and historic importance, in others you’ll see fine examples of civic planning.

Since 2015 Historic Pools of Britain has been bringing together its members to share experiences and insight, and continues to grow with a membership base across the country.  Membership is open to all pre-1945 pools, and later pools of historical interest, as well as heritage bodies and organisations who wish to show their support for the future of Britain’s historic pools.
