English Heritage Receives Its Largest Ever Single Donation

This month, English Heritage has received its largest ever single donation. Tintagel Castle, a heritage site in Cornwall, has been raising funds to build a new footbridge that will increase access to the castle, ease congestion and help to preserve it.
£2.5m, by far the largest amount donated to the cause, and the largest donation in the charity’s history, was given by The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust .

Sir Tim Laurence, chair of English Heritage, said:

“Thanks to Julia and Hans Rausing’s generosity, people will be better able to understand and enjoy Tintagel Castle. It is an inspiring gift for an inspiring site and we are extremely grateful to them. As a charity, it is only with the support of our visitors, members and donors that we can ensure our historic landmarks continue to provide a fascinating and exciting experience to all-comers.”
