The Design Guide is the National Trust’s collection of case studies detailing best practice and lessons learnt from a variety of building and landscape projects across the organisation.

The National Trust are seeking a Building & Project Design Guide Assistant to support with the collection, management and amendment of new and existing internal National Trust Design Guide case studies.

You’ll support the Building & Project Design Guide Managers with the collection, management and co-ordination of information vital to the development of the Design Guide project. You’ll use an agreed template to write new case studies and update existing ones with further lessons learnt. You’ll support the development of our external collection and our intranet to share the case studies effectively, with the aim of achieving resource and financial savings.

To succeed in this role you will need: –

  • An understanding of conservation principles and how they are applied to heritage assets;
  • Previous experience working within a heritage, cultural or environmental organisation;
  • A Masters qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject area, knowledge and/or practical experience;
  • Passion for your work and the ability to communicate that enthusiasm to others;
  • A confident and outgoing manner with the ability to communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels.
