Rebecca Pow, Member of Parliament for Taunton Deane, has been appointed as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. Her portfolio includes the arts, heritage, museums, tourism and libraries.
She replaces Michael Ellis MP, who had been in post since January 2018. He has become Minister of State at the Department for Transport.
This news came a day before the Prime Minister Theresa May announced that she will step down as Conservative Party leader on 7 June, paving the way for a contest to decide a new prime minister. Mrs May said she will continue to serve as prime minister while a Conservative leadership contest takes place.
