Brexit Preparedness Guidance for Local Governments

Editor News

The Government has recently updated its guidance to assist local authority preparedness for leaving the European Union. They have so far pledged £20 million extra funding for local authorities to support their Brexit preparations as of 3 August 2019 and a network of 9 local authority chief executives from across England have been established to work with councils in their regions and to share information on their Brexit preparedness.

The document also provides guidance for universities as well as offering some clarification on the EU Settlement Scheme, Business support as well as advice on community engagement and funding. This comes after Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom had her first roundtable with a variety of businesses to explore her top priority- supporting employers to prepare for leaving the EU on 31 October 2019.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has now issued a survey on no-deal Brexit readiness. The survey will be live for the next 9 days and provides organisations with an opportunity to let the Government know what support they need ahead of a potential no-deal Brexit.
