On Wednesday 6 March 2024, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Jeremy Hunt) presented his Spring Budget 2024 to Parliament. This is expected to be the last major fiscal event before the next general election (which is expected, at the time of writing this briefing, to take place in November). The Budget included a collection of headline-grabbing announcements – from a new tax on vaping products, to the proposed abolishment of non-dom status – but what did it all mean for the heritage sector?
The Heritage Alliance has produced a briefing paper that highlights the most significant announcements within the Spring Budget for the UK heritage sector: from tax relief for museums, galleries, theatres, and orchestras; to investment plans for the cultural and creative industries; to proposed cuts to departmental spending.
An earlier version of this briefing was published exclusively for members of the Heritage Alliance on the day of the Budget. To receive the latest policy insights for the heritage sector, consider becoming a member of the Heritage Alliance today.
