20th anniversary of Heritage at Risk Register

Editor News

In 1998 Historic England published the first Heritage at Risk report, which featured 1,930 buildings. Today, over two thirds of buildings and structures are safe, thanks to the efforts of all stakeholders involved.

This was possible thanks to Historic England’s grant in aid as well to other funds. One of them is the Coastal Revival Fund, whose 2018 winners have been recently announced (check out the news in this edition of the Heritage Update).

Rescuing this heritage has proved to be beneficial not only to safeguard its intrinsic value, but mostly to regenerate communities. Read about some successful storiesĀ here.
