Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick announced that an extra £9 million funding will be made available for Brexit preparation locally. £5 million will be for local councils near air, land or sea ports to ensure that they continue running smoothly after the 31st October when the UK leaves the EU.

£4 million will go to support local resilience forums, which are partnerships made up of representatives from local public services also to aid preparations for Brexit.

Much of this funding will go towards additional staffing costs in preparedness activities.
