Berkshire Archaeology is an archaeological advice service for five unitary authorities in east Berkshire. Based in the Berkshire Record Office, and forming part of Reading Borough Council’s Museum and Town Hall Service, we are responsible for archaeological planning advice, HER management and public engagement with archaeology in Reading, Bracknell Forest, Slough, Wokingham and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Join us here at Berkshire Archaeology, and you can look forward to being part of our small team of experienced and enthusiastic archaeologists, working to ensure that the rich archaeology and heritage of our area is widely appreciated, and preserved for future generations to enjoy.
We need an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help us deliver all aspects of our services. You will have experience of professional archaeology, an excellent understanding of fieldwork techniques, a sound knowledge of a wide range of site types and periods, and a good grasp of the planning process, as it relates to heritage.
Reporting to the Principal Archaeologist, your main duties will include providing archaeological development management and conservation advice to our unitary authority planning clients and others, and working with colleagues to enhance and develop the Berkshire Archaeology HER and other resources. Reading Borough Council can offer excellent training and development opportunities, not to mention a range of great benefits.
