Breaking Ground Heritage (BGH) joins The Heritage Alliance

We are delighted to welcome Breaking Ground Heritage (BGH) as a new affiliate member of the Heritage Alliance. BGH use archaeology and heritage based projects, to promote wellbeing and recovery to serving and veteran personnel, suffering physical and /or psychological traumas. They also provide support to members of the service community looking to transition into a new career in the heritage sector, providing training, work experience and links into Further/Higher education.

BGH understands that our heritage is instrumental in promoting wellbeing and recovery, and has been working tirelessly to understand just what it is that makes heritage such a vital component to the success of these projects.

BGH was initially set up by a former Royal Marines Commando and participant of the Operation Nightingale projects, who openly acknowledges that if it wasn’t for Op Nightingale, then he probably wouldn’t be around today. This absolute belief that archaeology and heritage can promote wellbeing if it is conducted responsibly, and the commitment to the service community, is the driving force behind what BGH does.

In February, BGH will launch their first conference led by the beneficiaries themselves, discussing the work that they have undertaken during 2017 and how it has helped them.
