The British Tourist Authority (trading as VisitBritain and VisitEngland) Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2018 has been published.

The tourism industry in Britain is worth £127 billion to the UK and is one of our most valuable export industries worth £29.8 billion a year and is already growing faster than the digital sector. Last year £5 billion was invested in British hotels with £2.7 billion from international investors; indicating the underlying strength of the sector.

This year VisitBritain/VisitEngland has continued to deliver on its mission to market Britain overseas to drive growth in international leisure and business tourism and to maintain distinct activities to develop and market English tourism.

The British Tourist Authority had £19.5m core grant in aid for VisitBritain in 2018, which supports all their core activity and teams and their network of 21 offices overseas, and £6.9 million for VisitEngland.
