Full‐time post based on 35 hours per week with a salary of c.£27,000 per annum depending on experience.

Purpose:
To support the work of the Patrimony Committee of the Bishops’ Conference in all areas of its work to promote the care and protection of historic Catholic churches in England and Wales. This will include but not be restricted to:
Providing administrative support to the Committee including review and analysis of relevant material to inform the work of the Committee – for example, review of HCC Annual Reports (casework and membership), review of Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register, and the maintenance of a register of HLF grant applications for listed churches.
Supporting the extension and maintenance of the national HCC website and the Taking Stock website and keeping the list of listed Catholic churches in England and Wales up to date as new buildings are added or churches upgraded in the light of Taking Stock.
Helping to build the capacity of dioceses, religious orders and congregations to care for their historic buildings so that they have a sustainable future as places of worship
Advising diocese and parishes on availability of grants and helping with grant applications
Establishing the role and value of historic places of worship in the priorities of the CaTEW
Liaising with diocesan Historic Churches Committees (HCCs) as required on matters relating to the effective operation of the Ecclesiastical Exemption
Liaising with Government agencies, grant‐giving organisations, amenity societies and the wider public in promoting a wider understanding of Catholic patrimony in England and Wales and Catholic understanding of their Faith
Acting as an advocate for the built heritage within the Catholic Church in England and Wales∙
Building partnerships with other organisations and the wider community
Offering guidance and training to congregations in all aspects of managing a historic place of worship and helping to identify other sources of information and advice
Person Specification:
A relevant degree or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience
A demonstrable interest in historic places of worship
An ability to empathise with the core purposes of the Catholic Church
Demonstrable ability in problem solving
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, negotiating and written communication skills
A driving licence
