MHCLG has published a consultation on the decapitalisation rate used in the business rates calculation for properties valued using the contractor’s method.
This technical consultation concerns whether the government should prescribe decapitalisation rates for 2021 and, if so, how the rates should be prescribed. Question 4 is of particular relevance to the sector, as it asks about the lower and higher rates, and whether there should be different groupings than those currently entitled to the lower rate.
The consultation closes on 30th May 2019.
