The DEFRA Select Committee has announced a short Inquiry into Rural broadband and digital-only services which aims to examine the Government’s current proposals and delivery of digital connectivity to rural areas. This is a perennial issue for the tourism and the heritage industry, especially for all heritage sites and historic houses in rural locations. Limited broadband connectivity leads to decreased access and visitor numbers to these sites, which has a detrimental effect to the country’s economy and culture.
The consultation closes on Monday 24 June 2019.
