The English Housing Survey (EHS) is a national survey of people’s housing circumstances and the condition and energy efficiency of housing in England. The second section, on homes, provides an overview of the housing stock in England including: the age, size, and type of home; energy efficiency of the housing stock etc.

The age of dwellings varied by tenure. Privately rented dwellings were more likely to be older with a third (35%) built before 1919, compared with 21% of owner occupied and 7% of social sector homes
