Exceptional Heritage Professionals Receive Honours

The Queen’s Birthday Honours list was released over the weekend, detailing the 1,073 people who are being recognised for their outstanding achievements. This list includes several heritage professionals, to whom we extend our congratulations, including:

  • Julie Kenny, CBE, Chairman of the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust – has been honoured with a DBE for services to heritage;
  • Dr Anna Keay – Director of the Landmark Trust [Alliance member] has been honoured with an OBE for services to heritage;
  • Bettany Hughes – Historian, Author and Broadcaster, who works closely with the World Monuments Fund [Alliance member] has been honoured with an OBE for services to history;
  • Dan Snow – journalist, historian and presenter – has been awarded an MBE for services to history – President of CBA [Alliance member];
  • Griff Rhys-Jones – President of both Civic Voice [Alliance Member] and the Victorian Society [Alliance member] – has been honoured with an OBE for services to the National Civic Society Movement, charities and entertainment;
  • Malcom Airs – past President and past Chair of the IHBC [Alliance member] and emeritus professor of conservation and the historic environment at Kellogg College, University of Oxford [Alliance member] – has been awarded an OBE for services to the historic environment, conservation and education;
  • Sir Michael Palin, CBE – Vice President of the National Churches Trust [Alliance member] – has been appointed as KCMG – for ongoing services to travel, culture and geography;
  • Sarah Healey – lately director general of the economic and domestic affairs secretariat in the cabinet office and new Permanent Secretary of DCMS – has also been honoured with a CB for public service.
