The Government has published information on variations to farming policy in England set to take place after Brexit.
The main changes include phasing out Direct Payments to move towards a more business-like partnership between the Government and farmers. There will also be changes in rules and regulations, and grant programmes will be implemented.
To avoid a rough transition for farmers and land managers, the shift from the current system to the new one will take place gradually over a seven-year period so that they have time to adapt.
The Government is also aiming to provide information on any further policy changes in a timely way to allow for any preparations that need to be made.
