Government reshuffle and new Heritage Minister

Editor News

The Government reshuffle has resulted in Karen Bradley moving to Northern Ireland Office and Matt Hancock being promoted from his role as Minister of State for Digital at DCMS to the Secretary of State. We also have a new Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, Michael Ellis, who has replaced John Glen who is the new Economic Secretary to the Treasury.

The new heritage Minister has already visited Walworth heritage action zone with Historic England in his first hours in the role and our Chairman, Loyd Grossman, met the minister yesterday to set out the heritage sector’s key priorities. Loyd has also written to new DCMS Ministers and to Sajid Javid whose department has been rechristened the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Other changes include Dominic Raab as the new housing minister, Rishi Sunak MP as the new Minister for Parks and Green Spaces, Margot James as Minister of State for Creative industries and Digital, a new immigration Minister Caroline Noakes, and Robert Jenrick as the new Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury (a role which has ministerial responsibility for charities, the voluntary sector and Gift Aid).
