Heritage 2020 at Heritage Day

Editor News

Mike Heyworth, Chair of the Heritage 2020 HEF subcommittee, gave an overview of the variety of recent Heritage 2020 activity to a capacity gathering at The Heritage Alliance’s annual Heritage Day.

He spoke about the range of organisations that work together through the five Heritage 2020 working groups and gave examples of the Public Engagement group’s work to improve diversity through Historic England’s opening up of its positive action traineeship scheme (call for expressions of interest from Historic Environment sector organisations now open – see the Historic England website for further information); and the Constructive Conservation and Sustainable Management group’s workshop on ‘Heritage and the High Street’, due to take place the following day to re-examine the role of heritage and its contribution to the economic health of high streets.

Mike called on heritage organisations to get involved with Heritage 2020 activities by signing up to the e-news and taking part in the new monthly HeritageChats on Twitter by following @HeritageChat. Slides from the day are available here.
