£16,000

This is an opportunity for a confident and well-organised graduate or person with equivalent experience and training to step up to the challenges of helping a small team manage a historic site and visitor attraction.  The theme of the internship is ‘bringing history alive’.  Commitment to heritage and ‘passing it on’ is essential.

Role Purpose
This hands-on role supports the mission of the charity to conserve and interpret the built and natural heritage of the Royal Gunpowder Mills (RGM) and deliver an excellent visitor experience for the general public and schools.  The post holder will hold relevant qualifications or equivalent experience, and will be working with staff, volunteers and partners to help devise, promote and manage group tours, talks, seminars, study days and outreach, and helping staff expand the schools programme and volunteering. The role combines practical administration with training in databases, budgeting and planning, and acting as Duty Manager when open to the public.  For the right candidate, the role should prove an all-round stepping stone to a future career in the field as well as playing a critical part in ensuring that the heritage and nature of RGM is passed on to future generations to enjoy.
