The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) released “Future of Our Pasts: Engaging Cultural Heritage in Climate Action” during the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan.
The report, authored by contributors from nineteen countries, represents a global effort to testify to the impact of climate change upon cultural heritage and to highlight how that same heritage can be a source of positive resilience for affected communities.
The extensive report is a resource through which the heritage community can assess their approach to climate change and further aims to engage decision-makers with the intersection between climate and cultural heritage policies. Overall, the document helps to create a more holistic impression of environmental issues and their solutions.
