Icon Publishes Report on China Collaboration

The Institute of Conservation, Icon, [Alliance member] has published a report discussing opportunities for UK-China collaboration in cultural heritage conservation. Based on Icon Chief Executive Alison Richmond’s recent tour of Shaanxi Province as a part of the UK delegation to the Silk Road International Expo in Xi’an, the report describes the region’s motivation to develop professionalism in conservation and to partner with the UK. The report’s recommendations include translating high-quality conservation literature, collaborative research projects, training delivery and the exchange of experts and students. Icon has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shaanxi Provincial Museum Association to promote knowledge exchange in the field of cultural heritage conservation, for example on accreditation, professional bodies, standards, theory, practice, research and education.
