This Government Guidance on the compulsory purchase process and the Crichel Down Rules. It has been revised primarily to reflect legislative changes since 2015. It applies to England only. It is intended to make it easier for people to access the information they need to understand how the compulsory purchase system works.
The guidance follows the publication of the Government’s response to a consultationon when the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government may delegate decisions to an inspector.
