The Trustees of the Ancient Monuments Society are pleased to announce the establishment of an annual Essay Prize in memory of Stephen James Croad, a dedicated public servant and strong supporter of the AMS. The intention of the Essay Prize will be not only to keep alive Stephen’s memory and to celebrate his contribution to architectural history but also to encourage architectural research and writing.
Essays are now invited, in the spirit of Stephen’s own research and practice, on factually verifiable, documented new discoveries on the historic buildings of England and Wales. There is a financial award of £500 available and the deadline for submission is 30th June 2019. More details and terms & conditions can be found here.
