Planning reform

Editor News

In the context of the reform to simplify and speed up the planning system to deliver more homes, the Government is consulting on 4 separate proposals:

1. new and amended permitted development rights and changes to use classes. Between other proposals, the draft includes measures to allow greater flexibility for change of use and use the airspace above existing buildings for additional new homes and extensions;

2. the disposal of surplus local authority land;

3. a draft listed building consent order to support the work of the Canal & River Trust and allow minor, routine works to Trust’s listed waterway structures without the need for individual listed building consent applications;

4. draft guidance on the compulsory purchase powers of new town development corporations.

The closing date for this consultation is 11:45pm on 14 January 2019.
