The Elizabethan Rose playhouse was found in an archaeological excavation in 1988/89. Plays by Marlowe, Shakespeare, Jonson, Kyd and others were staged there between 1587 and 1603. The Rose Theatre Trust aims to conserve the site and to advance learning about, undertake research into and make publicly accessible the playhouse. The Trust currently works towards achieving these aims by providing displays, a programme of events and performances and Saturday open days.

The Trust is seeking a Rose Playhouse General Manager to ensure the effective running of and to build awareness of and engagement with the site. The post-holder will be responsible for day-to-day management of the site and programmes and supervision of volunteers and contractors, consultants and other staff appointed by the Board from time to time. The post-holder will report to the Board of the Rose Theatre Trust monthly or as required and will assist the Board in its planning for the future of the site.
