Businesses were encouraged to showcase their achievements in sustainable development for the award by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. In a video message he urged all businesses, regardless of size or sector, to continue and improve on being sustainable, stating that ‘‘a good business is a genuinely sustainable business’’.

Greg Clark, Business Secretary also showed that increased sustainability is economically beneficial: ‘‘we have cut emissions by more than 40% since 1990 while growing the economy by more than two thirds’’.

The winners of the award will be able to fly The Queen’s Award flag, use the emblem for marketing for five years, and will be given a Grant of Appointment and a commemorative trophy.
