The Chief Executive of the Charity Comission, Helen Stephenson CBE, delivered a welcome plenary at the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council’s 2019 Biennial Conference this week, during which she highlighted the need to change regulation of charities in line with changing needs in society.
In her speech, Stephenson highlighted the importance of charities in bridging the gap between communities and state institutions, and set out how the Commission will see changes to its powers and means of regulation into the future. This follows the Comission’s earlier report on the failed Garden Bridge Project, which set out recommendations for charities and public policy makers in future projects.
