Wildlife Licence Charges – consultation

Editor News

You need a wildlife licence from Natural England if you plan to disturb or remove certain wildlife or damage habitats. The focus of the proposal is on the licences issued to enable development activity, particularly in relation to impacts on European Protected Species (e.g. great crested newts and bats).  Natural England proposes that licences for serious damage to property are exempt from charges. This would include licences where bats are causing serious damage to historic buildings. This means that licences issued to prevent damage to historic buildings will be unaffected by this proposal. The consultation closes on 5 February 2018.
